Iberian roots in Catalonia
The vineyard's history connects to over 2,000 years of viticulture in the region.
The vineyard of La Socarrada in Catalonia has a rich history, with archaeological findings dating back to the 1st century BC. These discoveries include ceramic amphorae, highlighting the area's long-standing relationship with winemaking. The current owners, who rejuvenated a 19th-century farmhouse, emphasize the importance of organic farming and biodynamic principles in their winemaking.
The grapes are hand-harvested from Macabeo vines planted in 1971. Following a cold maceration, the grapes undergo fermentation in ceramic amphorae with native yeasts. The wine is then aged on fine lees for six months in stainless steel, reflecting the vineyard's unique terroir.
