Tasting notes
Dark berries with violet and cigar box
Ripe dark fruit leads, with a floral, savory side underneath.
Wild blackberry, damson plum and fresh fig come first on the nose. Violet, cigar box and a touch of char sit behind the fruit. On the palate there are layers of blackcurrant, dried herbs and earth, and the finish is clean and fresh.
The fruit is deep and rich, but the soft tannins keep it smooth and easy to drink. Crisp, fresh fruit stops all that richness from feeling heavy. A slight chewiness at the end means it goes well with food, so it suits a roast or a holiday table.

45-year-old vines
Near Fronsac, Millaire’s Bordeaux estate uses ploughing and hand harvest, with no weedkillers.
Jean-Yves Millaire owns a 6.5-hectare estate near Fronsac, with one hectare of 45-year-old vines.
