Macduff distillery was established during the whisky boom of the 1960s. It features a unique setup with five stills, consisting of two wash stills and three spirit stills. The stills have upward-tilting lyne arms, which contribute to the whisky's character.
The distillation process at Macduff includes quick mashing and short fermentation. Cold condensers add weight to the spirit, while the kink in the lyne arm helps create a balance of fruitiness in the final product.
