Gia Bianco Piedmontese White Blend
A Piedmontese white blend with a citrus-led palate.
Tasting notes
Yellow fruit and citrus, bright and fresh
This is a lively, fresh white built on ripe yellow fruit with a citrus lift.
Yellow fruit and citrus come up first on the nose. The palate is bright and balanced. The flavor stays in the mouth well after each sip.
At 12.5% alcohol it stays light, so a second glass doesn't feel heavy. The fresh acidity makes it a good match for starters and first courses like pasta or risotto. It is made to drink young, so there is no reason to cellar it.
The producer
Langhe hillsides at 300 to 400 meters
Its grapes grow on marl, clay and sand about 1,000 to 1,300 feet up the Langhe hills, for fresh wines meant to drink young.
The wine is made by winemaker Giorgio Lavagna. The blend of Arneis, Riesling and Viognier changes every year with the harvest, so each vintage can taste a little different.
Each grape is fermented on its own in stainless steel and then rests on its spent yeast until the spring after harvest, when the blend is put together. It sees no oak barrels, so the fruit tastes fresh and clean.
