The producer
Austere vineyard at high altitude
The Mazzano vineyard's cooler climate and limestone soils yield wines with deep color and complex flavors.
Masi Agricola has been producing wine since 1772, with a focus on the unique characteristics of its vineyards. The Mazzano vineyard, renowned since the 12th century, is located at an elevation of 1,300 feet in the Valpolicella Classico region. This site is known for its calcareous soils, which contribute to the wine's intensity and complexity.
The grapes for Masi Mazzano Amarone undergo the appassimento process, where they are dried for three to four months. This technique concentrates the sugars and flavors, resulting in a wine with a profound tannic structure. After fermentation, the wine ages for three years in oak barrels before being bottled.
