Tilted Barn Westfal
A light-bodied beer from Tilted Barn Brewery in Exeter, Rhode Island, featuring bright tropical fruit flavors.
Tasting notes
Dry-hopped over a crisp lager base
A West Coast Pilsner dry-hopped with Strata and Mosaic, so the hops sit over a light, crisp lager base rather than burying it.
Strata and Mosaic carry the aroma, a subtle but expressive pairing that leans citrus and soft tropical fruit. The hop character stays on top of the beer rather than through it, which is what separates a dry-hopped pilsner from a pale ale.
Underneath is the light body and crisp finish lagers are known for. At 5.7% it drinks clean and dry, with the hops reading as scent and flavor rather than weight or bitterness.
The producer
Rhode Island's original farm brewery
Tilted Barn Brewery combines a farming heritage with a commitment to small-batch brewing in Exeter, Rhode Island.
Tilted Barn Brewery was established by a family with deep roots in farming. They began as Rhode Island's first commercial hop farm in 2007, which inspired them to open their own brewery on the family farm. The brewery reflects their passion for agriculture and craft beer, allowing visitors to experience the connection between farming and brewing.
The brewery produces small-batch beers using four essential ingredients: water, grain, yeast, and hops. Each batch is crafted with a focus on freshness, and the brewery encourages visitors to enjoy their offerings directly from the source. This approach emphasizes the importance of quality and the farm-to-pint experience.
