Organic viticulture in Bordeaux
The estate's conversion to organic farming enhances the purity of its fruit expression.
The Lacoste family has been cultivating vineyards in Bordeaux since 1856. Their estate is located on the highest bank of the Garonne River, benefiting from a unique terroir that influences the character of their wines. In 2005, sixth-generation winemaker Vincent Lacoste transitioned the estate to organic viticulture, focusing on sustainable practices and minimal intervention.
The Claret is produced using a blend of 50% Merlot and 50% Sémillon. The grapes undergo co-fermentation with 50% whole bunches and a 20-day semi-carbonic maceration to enhance freshness. Natural fermentation occurs with temperature control to preserve the fruit's character.
